NUMBER XX III.
Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go; keep her, for she is thy life.
A wise son maketh a glad father: but a fool-ish son is the heaviness of his mother.
Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old he will not depart from it.
And ye, fathers, provoke not your children to wrath; but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life;
But teach them to thy sons and thy son's sons; that they may learn to fear Me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.
And they brought young children to Him, that He should touch them :
And His disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it He was much displeased,
And said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
And He took them up in His arms, put His hands upon them, and blessed them.
Leader. And Jesus called a little child unto Him, and set him in the midst of them,
Response. And said, Verily I say unto you, except ye be converted and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.
L. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
R. And whoso shall receive one such little child in My name, receiveth Me.
That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth:
That our daughters may be as corner-stones, polished after the similitude of a palace.
For He hath strengthened the bars of thy gates; He hath blessed thy children within thee.
Honor thy father and thy mother, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee:
That it may go well with thee, in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.
My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother.
For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.
Children, obey your parents in the Lord ; for this is right.
Come ye children, hearken unto Me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
And these words which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart;

NUMBER XXIV.
Leader. Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity ; I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
Response. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge ; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
L. And though I bestow all My goods to feed the poor, and though I give My body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
R. Charity suffereth long, and is kind; char�ity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
Beareth all things, believeth all things.hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Charity never faileth : but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.
For we know in part, and we prophecy in part.
But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.
When I was a child, I spaka as a child, I under-stood as a child, I thought as a child : but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
For now we see through a glass, darkly ; but then face to face : now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
And now abideth faith, hope, charity these three ; but the greatest of these is charity.
Behold, what manner of love the Father Lath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God : therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew Him not.
